One team, start to finish

One contractor for plumbing, tiling and heating

Most bathroom renovations pull in a plumber, a tiler, sometimes an electrician and a separate fitter. When those trades don't talk to each other, that's where delays, mess and surprise costs creep in — and you're the one left chasing people.

With Serdiuk Plumbing, the same team does the plumbing, the tiling and the heating. Your renovation is planned as one continuous job, so nothing falls between trades, the timeline holds, and you only ever deal with one person — Pavlo. It's a calmer, more reliable way to get a bathroom done than juggling separate bathroom fitters, plumbers and tilers.

What a full renovation involves

From strip-out to the final tile

A complete bathroom renovation is a lot more than new tiles and a new suite. Here's what actually happens when we take on a full job, in the order it happens.

Bathroom renovation in progress in Cork showing strip-out and new pipework before tiling

1Strip-out and preparation

We remove the old suite, tiles and anything coming out, then take everything away. With the room back to bare walls and floor, we can see exactly what we're working with — and in many Cork homes that's the point where old, badly-run pipework or hidden damp first comes to light.

2First-fix plumbing and pipework

Next comes the plumbing you'll never see but rely on every day: new hot and cold feeds, waste and soil runs set out for your layout, and any changes needed to move a toilet, basin or shower. Getting the falls and pipe routes right at this stage is what keeps a bathroom trouble-free for years.

3Heating, boilers and hot water

If your renovation includes heating work, we handle it in the same visit — radiators, heated towel rails, and where needed boiler installation or a new hot water cylinder. Sorting heating and hot water alongside the bathroom means no second contractor and no second mess.

4Waterproofing and tiling

Before tiling begins, wet areas are properly prepared and sealed so water stays where it should. Then the wall and floor tiling goes on — marble-effect porcelain, patterned feature walls, large-format or classic — cut cleanly and grouted neatly.

5Fixtures, sanitary ware and finishing

Finally the room comes together: toilet, basin, vanity, shower or bath, screens, taps, towel rail and extractor all fitted, sealed and tested. We snag it, clean it, and hand back a finished bathroom you can use that evening.

Local tip: In older Cork homes, the first day of a strip-out is often when hidden issues show up — tired pipework, damp, or a poorly-set waste. We'd rather find and fix that now than tile over it and hope.

No surprises

The work behind the tiles

A bathroom is only as good as the plumbing behind it

A bathroom can look beautiful and still cause problems within a year if the work behind the walls was rushed. This is where being plumbers first, not just fitters, makes the difference.

When renovating older Irish properties, one issue we often uncover is tired pipework and poor water pressure — narrow or part-blocked pipes that leave a shower feeling weak no matter how good the fittings are. While the walls are open is the ideal time to put that right, rather than tiling over it and hoping.

We always pressure-test the plumbing before tiling begins, so any weak joint is found and fixed while it's still easy to reach — not after your new tiles are on. Waste pipes and falls are set so water drains properly and quietly, and wet areas are sealed correctly so leaks don't appear down the line.

Because we handle heating too, we can sort the bits most bathroom fitters can't: a boiler installation or replacement, a new hot water cylinder for better pressure, or a underfloor heating loop under your new floor. And if something ever goes wrong, you've got the same local team for emergency plumbing, boiler servicing and ongoing plumbing maintenance — not a stranger.

Worth knowing: The costliest bathroom problems start behind the wall. Get the pipework, falls and waterproofing right, and a bathroom can stay trouble-free for years — that's the part we never rush.

Bathroom renovation FAQs

How much does a bathroom renovation cost in Cork?
Every bathroom is different, so we price each job individually after seeing the room — the size, the layout, the tiles and the suite all affect the figure. Rather than quote a vague range, we give you a clear written price after a site visit, with no hidden extras. The quote itself is free.
How long does a bathroom renovation take?
Most complete bathroom renovations take around one to two weeks, depending on the size of the room, the amount of tiling and whether the layout is changing. We'll give you a realistic timeline with your quote and keep you updated as we go.
Can I stay in my house during the work?
In most homes, yes — especially if you have a second toilet. We keep the work area contained and tidy, and we let you know in advance whenever the water needs to be turned off so there are no surprises.
Do you supply the tiles, suite and fittings, or do I?
Whichever you prefer. We can supply everything to suit your budget and taste, or fit tiles and fittings you've chosen yourself. We're happy to advise on what works well and what lasts.
Do you do both the plumbing and the tiling?
Yes — and that's the main advantage of using us. The plumbing, tiling and finishing are all done by the same team, so nothing falls between trades and the job stays on schedule.
Do you remove and dispose of the old bathroom?
Yes. The full strip-out and disposal of the old suite, tiles and materials is included, so you don't have to lift a finger or arrange a skip yourself.
Will you leave my house in a mess?
No. We protect floors and surfaces, tidy up as we go, and clear and clean the site on completion. Respecting your home is part of the job, not an afterthought.
Do you stand over your work?
Yes. We take pride in a clean, lasting finish, and if something isn't right after we've finished, we come back and put it right. We'll talk through exactly what's covered before any work begins — in writing, alongside your quote.
Can you change the layout — move the toilet, basin or shower?
Yes. Because we do the first-fix plumbing ourselves, we can re-route pipework and waste to move your toilet, basin, shower or bath to a layout that works better for the room.
Can you fit a walk-in shower or a wet room?
Yes. We fit walk-in showers with low-profile trays or level access, and fully tanked wet rooms sealed to stay completely watertight. Both are popular choices for modern and accessible bathrooms.
Do you fit underfloor heating and heated towel rails?
Yes. Heated towel rails are a standard part of most renovations, and we can lay underfloor heating under your new floor for a warm, comfortable bathroom.
Can you install or replace a boiler or hot water cylinder?
Yes — we handle boiler installation and replacement and new hot water cylinders, and can do it as part of your bathroom project so there's only one team and one mess. We also offer boiler servicing afterwards.
My water pressure is poor — can you improve it?
Often, yes. Poor pressure can come from old pipework, a tired cylinder or a lack of a pump. With the walls open during a renovation, it's the ideal time to find the cause and put it right.
Do you do small bathrooms and ensuites?
Absolutely. Compact bathrooms and ensuites are some of our most common jobs, and a smart layout can make even a small space feel bigger and work much harder.
Do you work on older or period homes?
Yes. We renovate bathrooms in older Irish properties regularly and know the quirks that come with them, from awkward pipe routes to uneven walls and floors.
What areas of Cork do you cover?
We're based in Carrigaline and cover Cork city and the surrounding county, including Douglas, Ballincollig, Midleton, Cobh, Glanmire, Blackrock and more. If you're nearby and not listed, just ask.
Are you insured?
We treat every home with care and work to a high standard. We're happy to talk through how we protect your home and confirm our details with you before any work begins.
How do I get started?
The easiest way is to send a few photos of your current bathroom on WhatsApp, or give us a call. We'll arrange a site visit and put together a free written quote — no obligation.
